Chicken Turnovers

Golden, flaky chicken turnovers filled with a creamy, spiced chicken and sweetcorn mix, wrapped in puff pastry and baked to perfection. A quick and easy savoury pastry perfect for snacks, lunchboxes, or parties.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 small Onion
  • 1 Chicken Breast
  • 1.5 tsp Chicken Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Dried Parsley
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Paste
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tbsp Cream Cheese
  • 1/2 Cup Sweetcorn
  • Splash of Water
  • 1 Sheet Puff Pastry 6 pastries
  • Grated Cheese
  • 1 Egg wash
  • Sprinkle of Dried Parsley

Instructions
 

Step 1: Prepare the Chicken Filling

  • Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion until soft and translucent.
  • Add the chicken breast, garlic paste, chicken seasoning, black pepper, paprika, and dried parsley. Cook until the chicken is fully cooked and slightly golden.
  • Add sweetcorn and a splash of water to loosen the mixture. Stir in the cream cheese until melted and creamy.
  • Simmer for 1–2 minutes, then remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.

Step 2: Assemble the Turnovers

  • Preheat oven to 200°C (180°C fan) / 400°F.
  • Cut the puff pastry sheet into 6 equal squares.
  • Place a spoonful of chicken filling on one half of each square. Top with a little grated cheese.
  • Fold each square into a triangle and press the edges with a fork to seal.
  • Brush the tops with egg wash and sprinkle with a little dried parsley.

Step 3: Bake

  • Place the turnovers on a lined baking tray.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.
