How to make Milky Way Magic Star Cookies
Filling
You’ll want to start by making the filling because you will need to chill this in the freezer for an hour
- Cut a Milky Way chocolate bar in half and place into a plate lined with baking paper. Squeeze enough Chocolate spread onto the Milky Way bar so that it covers it completely (around 1 tbsp).
- Place into the freezer for 2 hour so that the Chocolate spread firms up.
Cookie Dough
- Mixture together the sugar, butter and then the eggs.
- Sift in the chocolate chips & dry ingredients and mix in order to create a cookie dough.
- Once the Chocolate spread filling has chilled in the freezer for an hour, measure out 100g cookie dough balls.
- Flatten them out and place the Chocolate spread filling in the centre. Roll the cookie dough around the Chocolate spread so that the dough completely coats the Chocolate spread.
- Bake in a pre-heated oven at 210C for 10 minutes
Garnish
- Whilst they are still hot, press on the Magic Stars and drizzle on some melted white chocolate.
- Allow to cool slightly before moving to a wire rack to cool completely.
Top Tips
- Chill the Chocolate spread – It’s important that you chill the Chocolate spread in the freezer before placing inside the cookie dough. This will ensure that the Chocolate spread stays within the cookie and doesn’t seep out whilst baking.
- Pre-heat the oven – I know this one may seem obvious but it’s really important that the oven is pre-heated before the cookies are baked. This ensures that they bake evenly and will give you the best results.
- Shape – If the cookies come out of the oven misshapen, don’t worry. Just find a cookie cutter or lid, anything that is circular and larger than the cookies. Simply rotate the cutter around the cookies a few times whilst the cookies are still hot and they should become round. I love this hack and I’ve used it plenty of times!
- Get Creative – One of the beauties of baking cookies is that they are very easy to customise. You can get creative with the dough, filling and topping and try out different recipes.
- Use Parchment paper – Make sure you use baking/parchment paper when you bake the cookies in the oven. This will allow you to bake them without them sticking and easily transfer them from the baking tray to a wire rack.
Storage
Once the cookies are baked, store in a airtight container for up to 5 days.
If you want to store the cookie dough then it should keep in the fridge for up to 5 days in an airtight container or in the freezer for a month.
Making the cookie dough beforehand is perfect when you want a delicious sweet treat but don’t want the hassle of making the dough. Simply place the cookies in a pre-heated oven for 12 mins and enjoy!
Conclusion
This Milky Way cookies are fun and easy to make. They are a blend of different flavours and textures and will be sure to impress at your next family/friend gathering. They are also perfect to take into the office and share with co-workers because they’re so easy to make. You can easily prepare the dough and store it into the fridge or freezer, allowing you to bake whenever you feel like having a fresh cookie.
