Why you’ll love this Honey French Toast recipe

Simple and Quick
With just a few pantry staples and under 10 minutes, you’ll have a warm, comforting breakfast on the table.

Naturally Sweetened
Sweetened with honey and a touch of brown sugar, there’s no need for heavy syrups.

Crispy Outside, Soft Inside
Perfectly golden on the outside and fluffy in the centre; a classic French toast texture done right.

Ideal for One or More
This recipe is made for one, but it’s super easy to scale up for a family breakfast.

Customisable Toppings
Add fruit, yogurt, or a sprinkle of cinnamon to turn it into your perfect bite.

Top Tips

Don’t Over-Soak the Bread
Dip just long enough to coat because too much and the bread gets soggy.

Use Day-Old Bread if You Can
Slightly stale bread holds up better and absorbs the batter without falling apart.

Control the Heat
Medium heat is perfect, too high and it’ll burn before the inside cooks.

Whisk the Batter Well
Ensure the sugar and salt are fully dissolved for even flavor.

Add Honey While Warm
It melts beautifully and spreads evenly across the toast.

Ingredients you’ll need to make Honey French Toast

  • 1 Bread
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • Splash of Milk
  • 1/2 tsp Brown Sugar
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Honey (to spread)

How to make Honey French Toast

Make the Batter
In a shallow bowl, whisk together the egg, vanilla extract, milk, brown sugar, and salt until smooth.

Dip the Bread
Dip both sides of the bread slice into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated but not overly soggy.

Cook the French Toast
Heat a small amount of butter or oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
Cook the soaked bread for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Serve with Honey
Transfer to a plate and spread or drizzle honey over the top while it’s still warm.

Storage Tips

Fridge: Store cooked French toast in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in a pan or toaster for best results.

Freezer: Freeze in layers with parchment in between. Toast or pan-fry from frozen when ready to serve.

Make-Ahead Batter: Mix the batter the night before and keep covered in the fridge for a quicker morning.
