Top Tips
- Quality Ingredients: Start with fresh, high-quality ingredients for the best results. Use real butter, fresh eggs, and pure vanilla extract to enhance the flavor of your cookies.
- Creaming Method: Cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy. This step helps incorporate air into the dough, resulting in a softer texture once baked.
- Don’t Overmix: Once you add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mix until just combined. Overmixing can lead to tough cookies, so stop mixing as soon as the flour disappears into the dough.
- Proper Scooping: Use a cookie scoop or spoon to portion out the dough onto the baking sheet. For soft cookies, slightly underbake them by removing them from the oven when they still look slightly soft in the center. They will continue to cook and set as they cool on the baking sheet.
- Cinnamon Sugar Coating: Roll the cookie dough balls in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar before baking to add extra flavor and a hint of sweetness to the exterior of the cookies.
- Cooling Technique: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. This helps them set without becoming too crispy on the edges.
- Storage: Store leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature. To keep them soft, you can place a slice of bread or a damp paper towel in the container to help maintain moisture.
