For the Chicken Marinade:
- 500g chicken thighs or breasts, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 teaspoon Salt
For Serving:
- Flatbread
- Thinly sliced red onions
- Thinly sliced lettuce
- Sliced pickles
- Garlic Sauce
How to make Chicken Shawarma Wrap
- Prepare the Marinade:
- In a large bowl, combine the yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, and all the spices (cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper, allspice, cloves, and salt). Mix well to form a smooth marinade.
- Marinate the Chicken:
- Add the sliced chicken to the bowl with the marinade. Mix thoroughly to ensure all the chicken pieces are well coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for maximum flavour.
- Cook the Chicken:
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with aluminium foil or parchment paper.
- Spread the marinated chicken pieces evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and slightly crispy on the edges. You can also cook the chicken on a grill or in a pan on the stovetop over medium-high heat until done.
- Assemble the Shawarma:
- Warm the pita bread or flatbread.
- Place a portion of the cooked chicken in the centre of the bread.
- Top with sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, and fresh parsley.

Chicken Shawarma Wrap
Ingredients
Chicken Shawarma
- 500 g Chicken thighs or breasts thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp Plain Yogurt
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
- 2 tsp Garlic paste
- 1 tsp Ground Cumin
- 1 tsp Ground Coriander
- 1 tsp Ground Paprika
- 1 tsp Ground Turmeric
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp All spice
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
Wrap
- 2 Wraps large
- Lettuce
- Pickles
- Red Onion
- Garlic Mayo
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl add in the chicken and all of the ingredients listed under the Chicken Shawarma heading above, mix thoroughly.
- Cover the bowl with cling film and allow the chicken to marinade for at least an hour. This will allow the chicken to be more flavourful.
- Cook the chicken in an air fryer for 20 mins at 200°C, flipping half way.
- Once the chicken is cooked, slice thinly and prepare your wrap.
- Using a large wrap or pita, layer the chicken, sliced pickles, shredded lettuce, slice onions and garlic mayo to taste.
- Wrap and cover with baking paper and then foil. Place back into the air fryer for 5 mins at 200°C and then serve.
