Kinder Cheesecake
Cheesecake is one of those desserts which I never used to like when I was a kid but now I love it! That’s one of the best things about making your own desserts from scratch, you can adjust the recipe to suit your preference. When I tried shop bought cheesecake as a kid, I always found it to be too dense and cheesy as opposed to light and fluffy. I decided to make a cheesecake at home because they looked fun to make and I wanted to try a recipe I had never made before. I was also surprised at how easy the recipe was to follow and how few ingredients you needed too.
Why you’ll love Kinder Cheesecake
- Creamy and dreamy: Kinder cheesecake is a creamy and delicious dessert which incorporates cream cheese and double cream.
- Delicious Kinder Flavour: Kinder chocolates are by far one of the smoothest and creamiest chocolates. The hazelnutty flavour and mix of white and milk chocolate is a chocolate lovers dream. By adding them into a cheesecake, you will have the perfect smooth and fluffy dessert.
- Eye-Catching Presentation: I loved how this cheesecake turned out. It has a layer of crust, then cheesecake, ganache, cheesecake swirls and then little Kinder chocolate pieces on top.
- Crowd-Pleasing Dessert: This dessert is perfect for gatherings and celebrations and is an absolute crowd-pleaser. I made this cheesecake for a family gathering and it was a hit!
- Luxurious Texture: The smooth and luxurious texture of the cheesecake, coupled with the crunch from the Kinder chocolate creates the perfect cheesecake flavour!
Ingredients you’ll need
Cream Cheese – Get a good quality cream cheese as this will really enhance the flavour of your cheesecake. That doesn’t mean you have to go for the most expensive brand, just pick whichever you like the most.
Double Cream – Don’t skip the double cream! If you don’t enjoy the overly cheesy taste then adding double cream will be a game changer. I like to add equal parts cream and cream cheese but feel free to adjust the quantities to your taste. You end up with a light and fluffy consistency of cheesecake which is an absolute dream!
Icing Sugar – Using icing sugar helps to sweeten the cheesecake perfectly. I have found icing sugar to be a better optional than granulated sugar as it mixes in with the cheesecake mixture really well.
Digestive biscuits – Digestive biscuits tend to be the go-to biscuit for cheesecake crusts although you could substitute this with any other biscuit of your choice. A friend told me she had made her cheesecake crust with white chocolate digestives and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since she told me! That will definitely be one to try next time.
Butter – You’ll need an unsalted butter, melted and mixed into the digestive biscuit crumbs.
Kinder Chocolate – As this cheesecake is flavoured with Kinder Chocolate, there are three ways in which I have incorporated it into the dessert. The first is by melting the Kinder chocolates and mixing it into the cheesecake filling. Secondly, by creating a Kinder chocolate ganache by melting Kinder chocolates with double cream and finally, garnishing the cheesecake with little Kinder pieces.
How to make Kinder Cheesecake
Whilst there are several different components to this dessert. its actually a really easy dish to make and there’s no baking involved either. I like to make cheesecakes when I’m having guests around for dinner. Mainly because I can make it the night before and chill it in my fridge and it takes away from the pressure of making starters, main and dessert on the day of the dinner party.
Start with the Crust
- The crust is super simple to make and even easier if you have a food processor. Start by crushing your biscuits into crumbs. I like to crush my biscuits in the food processor because it’s quick and easy and the biscuits have the perfect fine texture.
- Mix the crushed biscuits with the melted butter until fully combined.
- Then pour the mixture into an 8 inch cake pan, ideally a spring form or loose bottom cake tin. It will be much easier to remove the cheesecake once cooled this way but if you don’t have one then just use whatever you have.
Next the Cheesecake filling
- Whisk together the cream and icing sugar until it gets nice and fluffy. Using a hand whisk or stand mixer will make this process a lot easier. It’s still possible to use a regular whisk but it will just take a little longer.
- Add in the cream cheese and melted kinder chocolate and whisk until combined. You can replace the kinder chocolate if you don’t have any to hand with any other chocolate of your choice.
- Pour the mixture into the cake tin and level it out using a spoon or spatula, leaving some aside to use for the topping. Place some cling film on the top and place into the fridge for at least 30 mins.
Kinder Ganache
- Ganache may seem like a fancy addition to a cheesecake but it’s actually super simple to make. All you need to do is add the Kinder chocolate pieces and heavy cream into a bowl and microwave it until melts. Be sure to melt it in 30 second bursts because you don’t want it to burn.
- This next step is arguably the most satisfying step. Pour the ganache over the cheesecake and place back into the fridge to set.
Toppings
- This is completely optional but I think some piped swirls on top of the cheesecake make it look so pretty. I used a piping bag but you could use a sandwich bag if you don’t have any at home. Swirl on some of the reserved cheesecake filling and place a Kinder chocolate piece on each swirl.
- You will need to put it back in the fridge for at least an hour to set before slicing and serving and then enjoy!
Top tips for Kinder Cheesecake
- Experiment with Flavours: Get creative with flavour variations. Consider adding hazelnut extract or a touch of vanilla to enhance the Kinder chocolate flavour profile.
- Layered Kinder Goodness: Create layers within the cheesecake by melted chocolate to the cheesecake filling and a layer of Kinder ganache to the top.
- Kinder Chocolate Toppings: Decorate the top of the cheesecake with Kinder pieces for an elegant and flavourful topping.
- Chill Well Before Serving: Allow the cheesecake to chill in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight before serving. This not only sets the texture but also allows the flavours to meld for a more intense taste.
- Garnish Creatively: Garnish individual slices with additional Kinder chocolate pieces, whipped cream, or a dusting of cocoa powder for a visually appealing presentation.
More tips
- Don’t Overmixing: Mix the cheesecake batter just until the ingredients are combined. If you overmix it may create too much air, leading to cracks in the final product.
- Warm Knife for Clean Slices: Dip a knife in warm water before slicing the cheesecake for cleaner cuts and wipe the knife between cuts for a polished presentation.
- Balance the Sweetness: Kinder chocolate is known for its sweetness. Adjust the sugar content in your cheesecake recipe to ensure a harmonious balance without overwhelming sweetness.
- Use Cream Cheese at Room Temperature: Allow the cream cheese to come to room temperature before using it in the filling. This ensures a smoother and creamier consistency when mixing.
