Twix Brownies
Twix is one of my all time favourite chocolate bars so it was a no brainer to incorporate them into brownies. I love all the aspects of a Twix bar; the chewy caramel, crunchy biscuit and smooth chocolate coating make a delicious combination. I was in the mood to make brownies one day and decided to experiment with different flavours. I had made Oreo brownies and Snickers brownies and then it dawned on me that Twix brownies would be the ultimate brownie flavour. I knew I wanted to incorporate the Twix bars into the brownies and have some smaller pieces as the toppings as well. If you have some Twix bars handy and a hankering for some brownies, then grab your ingredients and get to baking.
Why you’ll love Twix Brownies
- Easy to make – These brownies follow my standard brownie recipe so they’re easy to make and you will have chocolatey, fudgy and delicious brownies. All you need to do is incorporate the chocolate bars and you will have a pan of, dare I say, some of the best brownies ever!
- Stay fresh for long – I was pleasantly surprised to see how long these brownies stayed fresh for. I put them in an airtight container and they stayed fresh for at least a week. I’m sure they would be fine for longer but they were too delicious that they were all gone by then!
What makes Twix Brownies the perfect combination
1. Texture: The soft, fudgy brownie layer provides the perfect contrast to the crunchy, biscuity Twix bars, creating a delightful textural experience.
2. Caramel: The layer of caramel from the Twix bars oozes into the brownie, infusing it with sweet, buttery caramel goodness.
3. Chocolate-y deliciousness: As if the caramel and biscuit weren’t enough, the brownie is topped with a layer of luscious chocolate, completing the trifecta of flavours.
4. Get Creative: You can get creative with your Twix Brownies by experimenting with different brownie recipes, adding extra toppings, or even drizzling more caramel or chocolate over the top. You can also present them however you want and I was really pleased with how mine turned out.
Customisation and Serving Ideas
- Drizzle caramel sauce over the top for an extra caramel boost.
- Add chopped nuts for a crunchy dimension.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a truly indulgent experience.
Top tips
- Storage – Be sure to store them in an airtight container as this will help the brownies to stay fresh for at least a week. You can also freeze them for longer storage.
- Layering Twix – Layer some Twix into the brownie batter and as toppings because the more the better!
- Don’t Overmix the Batter – Mix the brownie batter until just combined. Overmixing can lead to dense brownies, so stop once the ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Cooling Time: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting. This helps them set and improves the texture. If you chill them in the fridge before cutting, you will get clean and neat slices.
- Room Temperature Ingredients – Use room temperature eggs and butter as this will ensure even mixing.
- Serve with Ice Cream – Warm Twix brownies pair beautifully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The warm and cold combination is amazing.
