Strawberry and Mint Mocktail

This recipe for strawberry and mint mocktail is a must-have! The first time I had a mocktail was when I went to a restaurant with my friends. We all decided to try different flavours and I went for the virgin mojito. I assumed it was going to be a sprite with a few mint leaves in the glass but to my surprise, it was actually really nice. It was great and I really enjoyed the minty, sweet flavour. The presentation is on point, however the prices are extortionate!

I only very rarely get a mocktail nowadays and reserve them for special occasions when we’re out celebrating. I decided to recreate a strawberry and mint mocktail I had tried at a restaurant once because it was so very delicious. The restaurant actually made a raspberry and mint mocktail but I didn’t have any raspberry’s to at home to substituted it with strawberry.

You can use any fizzy drink for the main part of the mocktail but lemon and lime drinks work best in my opinion. A drink like sprint, 7UP or something similar should work just fine. If you’re going for a healthier alternative you could possibly try sparkling water but I don’t think it’ll taste as good as the ones pack with sugar!

I now make these Strawberry and Mint mocktail whenever I have guests over because I think they look so lovely and they’re so fun to make! They also look super impressive despite being really easy to make!

WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS STRAWBERRY AND MINT MOCKTAIL

  1. Vibrant and Refreshing Flavour: Ripe strawberries and fresh mint leaves create a vibrant and refreshing flavour profile. The sweet and juicy strawberries complement the crisp, cool notes of mint, creating a delicious beverage.
  2. Perfect Balance of Sweet and Tangy: Strawberries naturally provide a sweet and slightly tangy taste, along with the mint you achieve a perfect balance of sweetness and freshness. It is a satisfying and invigorating combination.
  3. Hydrating and Light: As a mocktail, this drink is hydrating and light, making it an excellent choice for staying refreshed, especially in the summer days. The natural sweetness from strawberries reduces the need for added sugars, keeping the drink light and refreshing.
  4. Versatile and Adaptable: A strawberry and mint mocktail is easily adaptable. You can customise it to your taste preferences by adjusting the sweetness, or adding a splash of citrus for extra zing. It’s a beverage that welcomes creative variations.

INGREDIENTS YOU’LL NEED

Handful Strawberries – Use fresh and sweet strawberries. If you only have frozen then leave them to thaw a little before you add them in. This will prevent them from creating a slushie like consistency.

Handful Mint leaves – Be sure to muddle the mint leaves to release the oils for maximum flavour. This will also create a beautifully fragrant drink which will enhance the flavour dramatically.

Lemon & Lime fizzy drink – You can really use any fizzy drink you want but I think Lemon and Lime based fizzy drinks tend to work well with mocktails. Lemon and lime complement the flavours of strawberry and mint perfectly but feel free to experiment with different carbonated drinks. If you want to use less sugar than you can use sparkling water and add in a sweetener of your choice. Honey or maple syrup are great for sweetening drinks.

Ice – Ice is essential for creating the most refreshing beverage but feel free to leave it out if you don’t want it to be too cold.

TOP TIPS ON THE BEST STRAWBERRY AND MINT MOCKTAIL

  1. Fresh Strawberries: Use ripe, fresh strawberries for the best flavour.
  2. Fresh Mint Leaves: Choose vibrant and aromatic mint leaves. Bruise the mint before adding to the dink to release its essential oils and enhance the flavour.
  3. Sweetener (Optional): Depending on the sweetness of your strawberries, you may choose to add a sweetener. Honey or simple syrup are good options. Adjust the amount based on your taste preference.
  4. Ice Cubes: Use plenty of ice cubes to keep the mocktail chilled and refreshing.
  5. Sparkling Water or fizzy drink: Choose a lemon or lime based fizzy drink such as sprite or 7UP for the mocktail as it pairs perfectly with the strawberry and mint. If you want something less sweet then consider adding sparkling water.

MORE TIPS

  • Sweeten to Taste: Add sweetener to the mixture, if you want it a little sweeter. Start with a small amount and adjust to achieve your preferred level of sweetness.
  • Fill Glass with Ice: Fill your serving glass with plenty of ice cubes. This not only chills the mocktail but creates a more refreshing beverage.
  • Garnish with Strawberry and Mint: Garnish the mocktail with a fresh strawberry slice on the rim of the glass and a sprig of mint to make it more visually appealing.
  • Serve Immediately: Mocktails are best enjoyed fresh, so serve your strawberry and mint mocktail immediately for the best experience.
  • Get creative: If you’re not a fan of strawberries, try using a different fruit. Raspberries taste really great in a mocktail and pair very well with mint too.
