Iced Caffe Latte

Iced Caffe Latte

I really like the taste of this iced caffe latte; I think its rich, strong and perfect when sweetened. I don’t drink it every day because I don’t want to be reliant on coffee to give me energy, so I only have it when I’m in the mood to drink it. To me, it tastes just as good cold as it does hot and in the summer it’s the perfect cold drink.

During the winter, I tend to stick to hot coffee because it keeps you warm but I could easily drink cold coffee throughout the year because it’s so delicious. I started making iced coffee at home when I was at university because Starbucks was getting a little expensive and the Costa on site didn’t produce the best iced coffee.

It was so easy to make iced coffee and then when dalgona coffee was all the rage, I realised that coffee is quite versatile and can be experimented with. I tried different flavours: vanilla, hazelnut etc. and I did enjoy them, however I think a plain iced coffee with brown sugar and milk is my favourite style.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS CAFFE LATTE RECIPE

  1. Quick and Easy: When you’re craving an iced coffee but don’t have much time on your hands, this is a really good recipe to follow. It’s quick, easy and simple to follow.
  2. Few ingredients: This recipe only requires a few ingredients which you are likely to find in your kitchen.
  3. Customisable: You can customise how strong you would like to be by adding or reducing the amount of instant coffee. If you would rather make it with a freshly brewed espresso then feel free to.
  4. Adjust sweetness: You can adjust how sweet you would like your drink to be by adding in the amount of sugar for your taste preference.
  5. Get creative: You can add in different flavoured syrups to enhance the taste of your coffee.

INGREDIENTS YOU’LL NEED

Instant Coffee – Feel free to use a freshly brewed espresso if you would prefer.

Sugar – Adjust the sweetness based on your taste preference.

Boiling Water – You’ll need boiling water to mix into the instant coffee.

Milk – Choose which milk you prefer. I used whole milk for this recipe but you can use almond, oat, hemp, cashew or any other milk alternative.

Ice Cubes – Add as many ice cubes as you like but if you want a refreshing and cold coffee, then fill up the glass.

TOP TIPS ON THE BEST CAFFE LATTE

  1. Fresh Milk: Choose fresh and high-quality milk such as whole milk or a milk alternative like almond, oat or cashew milk can be used based on your preference.
  2. Ice Cubes: Use plenty of ice cubes to chill the coffee without diluting it too much. If you want a cold and refreshing coffee, fill the glass with ice cubes, pour in the coffee and then the milk.
  3. Use a Milk Frother: Froth the milk using a milk frother for a creamy, smooth and velvety texture.
  4. Assembly Order: Pour the cold or hot brewed coffee over a glass filled with ice cubes. Add your sweetener of choice at this stage. Pour the frothed milk over the coffee to create an aesthetic layered effect.
  5. Stir Gently: Give the iced latte a gentle stir to combine the coffee and milk. This ensures a consistent and delicious flavour throughout the drink.

MORE TIPS

  • Use Clear Glassware: Serve your iced latte in a clear glass to showcase the layered effect of coffee and frothed milk.
  • Experiment with Flavours: Experiment with flavoured syrups like vanilla, caramel or hazelnut to add a touch of sweetness and extra flavour to the iced latte.
  • Cold Milk: Ensure that the milk is cold before frothing. Cold milk helps create a thicker and creamier consistency.
  • Quick Assembly: Assemble the iced latte quickly to prevent the ice cubes melting, this ensures that the drink stays refreshing.
